Now in its 24th year of publication the CIE Distributor Directory is the authoritative guide for identifying the numerous sources of supply for electronic components. csn's collaboration in the production of the Distributor Direc- tory is an extension of the association's wider industry remit, which is to support the full lifecycle of electronic components


from ‘cradle to grave', and then thanks to responsible recycling, back to 're-birth’. We do this thanks to our structure of five primary lead- ership groups, each with a specific focus: • Research – Near market research into materials, products and


processes that support innovation. • Components Manufacturers – Companies that contribute to and take advantage of international research into new products that add value to customers via innovative functions, features and benefits. • Channel Partners – Primarily Manufacturer Authorised Distribu- tors, Distributors and Manufacturers' Representatives with responsi- bility for engaging across the UK / Ireland customer base and supporting customers' technical and commercial design and applica- tion activities.

• Systems Integrators – The OEM, ODM and EMS organisa- tions that combine electronic components, software and hardware into new products destined to be standalone or integrated into a larger system. • End-Of-Life/ReUse – Working with influencers across the in- dustry to minimise the impact of obsolescence and electrical waste to ensure systems and components can be effectively re-cycled. Every year brings with it new challenges for our industry to over- come and new opportunities for ecsn and its members to pursue. The only constant is change! In his role as US Secretary of Defence, Donald Rumsfeld when ob- serving military planning famously observed: “There are known, knowns; these are things that we know: There are known un- knowns; that is to say there are things we know we don’t know.
