Safety over IO-Link from Balluff is open to the sensor level: Balluff safety components as well as safety devices from other manufacturers can be connected to the Balluff- developed I/O module, using inexpensive standard M12 cable. The module is connected to an IO-Link master, with safe communication with the control level provided by Profisafe/Profinet. Safety-relevant data is transferred through the master directly to the safety controller. The high degree of standardization results in savings over the entire life cycle of the machine.

he OID photoelectric sensor from ifm electronic, considered a game-changer when it was launched less than two years ago, has now been joined by a new version featuring the safer class one laser. The remarkable performance of the OID has been retained in the new version, OID250; the sensing range is still 2m and the background suppression is so good, that it won’t even see high- visibility PPE beyond the set switch point. The target colour doesn’t matter, nor do shiny surfaces and the angle of incidence can be oblique. All this allows the user to fit the sensor out of the way above a standard conveyor, instead of a reflex device and a reflector, thus saving installation cost, too. Setting could hardly be easier; the setting dial is calibrated in centimetres, so turn it to the required distance, lock, and go.

New FSC-1114 fuse blown indicating module T
he new FSC-1114 fuse blown indicating module, designed to distribute a supply
voltage, is a DIN rail mounting module, that has 10 common indicating fuse blown outputs. Each fused channel can handle up to 7.5A, with a maximum of 40A max for the module. In the event of a fuse being blown a relay is energized and the volt free contacts can be used to signal the problem to the SCADA system or raise a local alarm.
