PREVIEW PPMA TOTAL SHOW FIND THE FACTORY OF THE FUTURE AT PPMA

On stand B36, Omron will make the UK debut of its flexible production system. The display will present a range of Omron’s automation and robotic solutions, will showcase an end-to-end flexible automated manufacturing process, and give attendees an in- depth look at the possibilities of the future of production. The system is driven by the move towards more customisable, personalised manufacturing. Providing a model of a fully-

automated factory, component retrieval, assembly and quality inspection are performed by autonomous robotic technologies. The system is also digitised, allowing all data produced by the

system to be displayed on a dashboard and closely monitored by a supervisory system. Attendees can interact

with the system over the course of the event, designing their specification, placing an order and watching as the solution assembles their product in real time. Through an onsite dashboard, attendees can customise a product at every stage of production, from order entry to delivery, modelling the flexible production lines of the future. Omron is taking the component

assembly process a stage further with the combination of a

WORKING MIXERS ON SHOW

On the Silverson Machine’s stand this year (D20) visitors will be able to see working examples of the Silverson Batch, Ultramix and Laboratory mixers including the Verso, a bench-top In- Line mixer. Also on the stand will be the

company’s powder/liquid mixing system, the Flashmix and the High Viscosity In- Line mixer which features a special rotor design to offer exceptional flow rates and the ability to process higher viscosity products, such as gels.

Industrial Washing Machines (IWM) will show a new T400 tray washer, the CW13 EX BT general-purpose cabinet utensil washer and the new range of boot washers at PPMA, on stand B104. The T400 single-lane continuous-wash

roboticised arm, connected camera and mobile capabilities. The resulting robotics solution with integrated machine vision can see the product it is working on, enabling increased precision and feedback. The robots are also multipurpose and able to perform different tasks as needed.

Omron www.omron.com NEW VENTURE IN WEIGHING AND INSPECTION

At PPMA Total Show 2019, stand B01, Fortress Technology will launch details about its latest venture with long-term partner Sparc Systems. Fortress recently acquired the counting, weighing and inspection machinery company. By formalising this partnership, both companies will focus on

their food safety strengths and customised inspection equipment. According to Phil Brown, Fortress Technology’s European managing director ‘Existing and future customers will benefit from higher food quality assurance, reduced waste, greater supply chain transparency, and real-time food production and packaging traceability’. Fortress can now offer customers integrated checkweighing,

label inspection, X-ray and check and detect combination systems. Catering to future processing trends, stringent Codes of Practice and food safety laws, the partnership will benefit food manufacturers, retailers and consumers alike. The team will focus on integrating visual technologies to increase traceability, systems to ensure compliance with weighing laws and single control panels for ease-of-use and real-time monitoring. Fortress will also debut the Interceptor DF metal detector,

designed to inspect high-value, low profile foods vertically and horizontally concurrently.

From entry-level products through to complete turnkey solutions, the RARUK Automation product programme enables the company to partner with OEMs, systems integrators and manufacturers to provide innovative, application-specific automated solutions. The company will be

showcasing three systems based on Universal Robots (on Stand E20), including models from the new e-series. These latest generation machines enable faster development for various applications, easier programming and compliance with CAT3 PLd. The first of the systems will combine a URCB5 cobot with a

palletising made easy and mobile with a new introduction from RARUK Automation, the EasyPalletizer platform. It will be equipped with the UR10e robot arm fitted Robotiq air-pick vacuum grippers. The third demonstration

features the Pick-It M-HD high definition 3D camera with Robotiq hand-e gripper - optimised for operation with UR e-series robots – and the Robotiq Force Co-Pilot, intuitive

tray washer is suitable for smaller to medium throughputs, or where operational space is at a premium. The T400 can accommodate up to 400 trays, crates or boxes per hour. It is typically supplied in a continuous straight-through tunnel configuration, but overhead feed for one-person operation is optionally available, as are twin-tank versions for high care applications. IWM will also be showing the CW13 EX

BT cabinet washer which provides efficient batch washing for items such as trays, machine components/change parts, weigh pans, buckets and utensils. Features include an internal self-cleaning function and the interior has no right angles.

IWM www.indwash.co.uk BAGGER EVOLUTION

ILAPAK will preview the Vegatronic 6400 on Stand D10, a new continuous motion bagger that offers superior hygiene and maximum uptime when packaging frozen meat products such as nuggets, burgers, and sausages. The new bagger is an evolution of

ILAPAK’s Vegatronic 6000 bagger, which has been developed and adapted to meet the specific demands of meat industry in terms of sanitary design, accessibility, fast changeover and OEE. Open frame design, IP66 rated electrical components, easy removable forming tube and a cantilever film reel shaft are among its features. Sanitary design has been achieved by

using high quality stainless steel for the majority of parts and minimising flat surfaces and recesses where dust and debris can accumulate. The Vegatronic 6400 is also a full washdown bagger; all electronic and electrical parts are sealed to IP66 or higher and open frame architecture allows ready access for cleaning.

Efficiency on the Vegatronic 6400 has been enhanced in a number of ways. The splicing table is vacuum assisted, the forming tube is mounted on a swivel arm for easy removal and the film reel shaft is both pneumatically activated and cantilever – making film reel changeovers much quicker than on machines with a drop- in shaft.

The Vegatronic 6400 is targeted to the needs of the IQF protein market, but also suits frozen produce and cheese.
