ADVERTORIAL TECHNOLOGY IN ACTION
One-Touch Away from Simplicity O
HepcoMotion Exhibiting at the ADS Defence & Aerospace Technology Roadshow
Roadshow. Taking place in September, the roadshow lasts three weeks and visits major defence and aerospace sites across the UK. The roadshow houses exhibitors on an exhibition vehicle and travels to each site, providing a unique opportunity for a vast array of defence and aerospace professionals to see a selection of Hepco’s solutions.
H
Hepco’s stand will feature a selection of its products that are ideally suited to the aerospace industry including its HD gantry systems and HD track systems. Hepco’s V based linear rail and slide systems are used extensively in the aerospace industry typically to move and position large structures, or as guidance for handling fixtures. Accuracy, high load capacity and low friction are all key requirements in aerospace installations, qualities found in abundance with Hepco’s Linear motion Systems.

ne-Touch fasteners help increase productivity by reducing set up times, eliminating errors in assembly and installation and simplifying procedures. Users whose applications required regular disassembly/assembly, or frequent changes of set up or reconfiguration of production equipment would benefit from the efficiency of One Touch Fasteners,
these include; food manufacturers,
pharmaceutical assembly lines and bottling plants. Application examples for One-Touch fasteners include the attachment of conveyors, star wheels, guide plates, shooters, pushers, handling machine chucks, rotary blades and maintenance covers on machines, to name just a few. The long term benefits to a business utilizing this engineering component are significant as well as simple to implement.

HBM workshop explains fundamentals of strain gauge installation at Silverstone.
As part of its highly acclaimed HBM on Tour series of workshops and training courses, HBM – a market leader in the field of test and measurement – has announced the date for its latest ‘Installation of Strain Gauges’ training course, which takes place on 18th October 2016.
Taking place between 9am to 5pm this comprehensive one day training course will explain the fundamentals of strain gauge measurement, ranging from gauge selection, through to analysis and evaluation of acquired data. Providing both practical and theoretical advice on the principles and application of classical and fiber optic strain gauges and how to correctly measure the strain, the course will also look at the different adhesives and covering agents which can be used in installation.

Permanent magnetic clutch offered by UK manufacturer S
G
Transmission has designed and manufactured a permanent magnetic clutch for a global, medical device manufacturer, replacing the need for both a brake and a clutch, saving money and weight. The fail-safe clutch utilises rare earth permanent magnets to generate the magnetic field keeping the clutch engaged, should the power fail. The clutch was designed to replace the existing clutch in a drive mechanism, which needed power to engage the clutch.
The existing configuration could, in the event of power failure, allow the mechanism to potentially become free moving in an uncontrolled manner. Standard practise would be to use a fail-safe brake in this arrangement to control the free movement, which would create an additional cost. The clutch has the potential to replace both components and not only save space, weight and part count, but also save on cost.

Miniature inert solenoid pumps require less space, less energy
L
ee Product’s range of inert solenoid pumps includes the LPL, LPM and LPG Series and represents an excellent choice of fixed volume dispense pumps which help machine builders to meet the objectives of using components which require less space and are more energy- efficient. These pumps provide precise and repeatable, fixed volume dispensing in a small, lightweight package. Features include, a revolutionary port head design that allows ‘soft, temporary tubing connections’ to manifolds which enables full testing of fluidic systems. Once the system design has been finalised and approved the same pump can be manifold mounted using standard O-rings and this applies across the full range with 1/16” or 3/32” sized tubing.
Inert wetted materials include (PEEK) body with a choice of FKM and EPDM as standard elastomers. Options include 12 or 24vdc and the range provides volumes ranging from 10, 25, 50, 100 or 175µL per dispense.

Amphenol’s New Medium Amperage Connection System
esigned for the hybrid and electric vehicle markets, these connectors feature a lightweight plastic shell and compact design which provides both weight and space savings in vehicle architecture. It features 2-way, 3-way and 4-way systems with optional HVIL and EMI shielding for safety and performance. Amphenol’s ePower-Lite connector series is built to meet the demanding needs of medium voltage and medium amperage applications. It incorporates 3.6mm terminals with
D Amphenol’s patented
RADSOK technology to achieve higher current ratings,
lower insertion forces and lower
temperature rise and contact resistance. Due to the low insertion force, no mechanical assist is required. These touch-proof connectors are RoHS compliant and can be used for charging, for accessory power or anywhere a sealed medium power connector is required.
The ePower-Lite can be mated a minimum
of 100 times. It also has a UL 94V-0 flammability rating, an IP67 rating and an operating temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
