University an inspiration to FM industry
he University of Bradford’s Facilities and Estates Management Team has been called an ‘inspiration’ by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers Facilities Management Group after their fourth CIBSE Building Performance Awards win, including their second success in the top category.
Formerly Carbon Champions in 2012, the university team claimed the re-named Building Performance Champion Award – the top prize – along with the Facilities Management Team Award. The university has managed to decrease its carbon footprint by 35% in a decade, cut utilities costs by 27% and save £8 million. City Campus in Bradford is the only place in the world where a single estate has three ‘BREEAM Outstanding’ buildings and a
Passivhaus building within 100m of each other.

Passingham’s career spans 25 years having worked globally from Hong Kong to New York in multi-disciplinary design on a variety of projects including the high profile Eden Project, the Xiqu Chinese Opera House, Hong Kong and the Olaya Metro Station, Riyadh. A specialist in building engineering and fire engineering disciplines, he will be based at Ollson’s Bath office.
BESA steps up focus on specifiers
