ET Flexible Space has recently launched a new FlexTouch 3 enhanced controller incorporating sensors for CO2, humidity, VOCs and


particulate count – all of which can have an effect on indoor air quality and subsequently health and wellbeing of occupants. The new FlexTouch can be configured to override


normal temperature control when CO2 or humidity control is in demand due to rising occupation. Underfloor air conditioning is commonly used in


office environments, utilising the plenum beneath a raised floor as the ventilation zone. Fully conditioned air is supplied into the plenum by zonal downflow units (CAM), and then supplied into the workspace via fan terminal units (fantile). The fantile units feature integrated controllers


where users can personally adjust fan speed and temperature to suit their own comfort. Access to the controller is via a specially designed hatch within the grille that covers the recessed fantile. The wall mounted FlexTouch controller offers users


an alternative way to adjust temperature and fan speed of the fantile units which supply conditioned air into the workspace, without having to physically access the fatronic controller located in the recessed fantile beneath the grille and they are proving to be a popular option for meeting rooms and cellular offices.

SAV Systems welcomes more rigorous testing for HIUs

networks is often down to poorly designed HIUs that are unable to cope with variations in the system and fail to maintain the temperature differentials required for optimum efficiency,” observed SAV Sales Director Jan Hansen. “This new testing regime is more demanding than its predecessor and the adoption of the new test standard by the Building Engineering Services Association will ensure wider compliance,” he added. SAV has supported HIU testing since the introduction of an earlier


regime developed by Fairheat with support from the then Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC). The first round of tests showed that SAV’s Danfoss FlatStation HIUs provided the lowest VWART (Volume Weighted Average Return Temperatures) values of all HIUs tested. SAV will now be submitting FlatStations for testing under the new


regime. “We are very focused on the performance of the whole system at both full and part load conditions and FlatStations are optimised to deal with varying system differential pressures and high performance at low, high and dynamic DHW tapping conditions,” Jan Hansen continued.

Panasonic provides flexible heating and cooling solution for IKEA


anasonic’s advanced heating and cooling technology has been installed in the new


IKEA store in Birmingham city centre. Distributor Logicool provided the Panasonic ECOi and ECO G systems to IKEA and worked with Wolverhampton‐ based TSG Electrical Services to ensure an efficient, cost effective installation.


The city centre site did not


have sufficient electrical supply to deliver heating and cooling via an electric VRF system, so Panasonic’s ECO G technology was crucial to the success of the project. Logicool supplied two of


Panasonic’s gas fired ECO G heat pumps to provide heating and cooling to the front of house retail areas. The ECO G’s utilise the on‐site gas supply, which meant Logicool were able to deliver the ideal environment for shoppers with minimal additional demand to the electrical power supply. In the staff offices and the

used Panasonic’s ECOi VRF system to supply heating and cooling, to create a comfortable, climate‐ controlled environment. In the back of house areas TSG Electrical Services also installed the reliable U1 type 4‐way 90x90 cassettes to provide heating and cooling, accompanied with the CZ‐RTC4 controllers to give staff the ability to fine‐tune their environment and ensure that energy is not wasted through unnecessary operation.
