PPMA TOTAL SHOW 2016 PREVIEW ALL-IN-ONE CASE-LOADING SYSTEMS

Drawing on the engineering expertise of Endoline, Pacepacker has developed the E-Pac all-in-one case loading line to address the challenges of rising labour costs in the industry. “Food and FMCG manufacturers are

being hit hard by the new national minimum wage and changes to pension arrangements and these challenges combined with retail price squeezes are prompting businesses to explore the cost and efficiency benefits of automating case packing,” says managing director

Dennis Allison. “For several years both companies have experienced huge growth within these sectors and the PPMA TOTAL Show provides the perfect platform to launch E-Pac.” With a variable throughput speed depending on the application E-Pac is a fully integrated turnkey system and seamlessly covers each step in the packaging process: case erector, loading, sealing and palletising. Elements of the system can be integrated into a full or partially automated production line and customised to suit each application. A dedicated, highly-skilled E-Pac team has been created with both companies putting forward their best case loading specialists, giving customers double the expertise yet the ease of liaising with a single vendor. Benefiting manufacturers of food, household goods, personal care and pharmaceuticals, each E-Pac system is crafted to suit the application, product weight, budget and speed requirements. Endoline’s portfolio comprises over 40 case erecting and case sealing systems while Pacepacker has more than 50 high speed pick-and-place options including FANUC articulated robot arms and Festo Cartesian systems, giving customers the widest choice of technology through one source.

HUMAN-ROBOT COLLABORATION SOLUTIONS

As Universal Robot’s preferred supplier in the UK RARUK Automation will feature the latest developments in human-robot collaboration. The most significant is Universal Robots+, a suite of plug and play application solutions that offer a new level of simplicity for manufacturers that want to hit the ground running when installing their UR robot. This flexibility is complemented by a range of URCaps accessories, end-effectors, software and control solutions that allow easy customisation, making integration easy, quick and effective. RARUK Automation will demonstrate why the

Universal Robot is proving so popular with manufacturers in the UK; the company has seen a 300% rise in demand for these 6-axis arms in the last trading year because they provide the ideal

basis for human and robots to work collaboratively, generally without the need for safety guarding to reduce payback and increase productivity. Continuing the plug-and-play theme will be a

new vision system from specialist end tooling and gripper manufacturer Robotiq. Specifically developed to fit the Universal Robot Robotiq makes vision easy to integrate, shortening set-up time to just five minutes. The compact camera is fitted in the Universal Robot’s ‘wrist’ and offers direct connectivity to the controller. No external PC system is required to set-up, programme or run the camera; it’s all achieved via the robot user interface. The complementary collaboration between RARUK

Automation and ArtiMinds Robotics extends the potential of robotics even further for UK manufacturers. ArtiMinds has put the latest technologies in machine learning, motion planning and motion control for robotic manipulation into a robust, easy to use software product that is fully compatible with Universal Robots and Robotiq force torque sensors.

Jarshire’s comprehensive range of operator-friendly products includes the Moviroll Roll/Reel pusher from Renova. Demonstrations will show how effortlessly an operator can manoeuvre both large and small cylindrical loads on a flat surface and then place them on the roll stand or shuttle cart. Battery and pneumatic models, each with two different handle configurations enable handling paper, tissue and converting rolls in a simple and safe manner. Espo knife-holders are an integral part of Jarshire’s range. Espo utilises advanced technology leading to easy and functional in-line integration to all existing winders, slitters, sheeters and web processing machines, no matter the substrate. Features include a quick and highly accurate positioning system and reliable and operator-friendly operation for all styles of slitting from shear, razor or crush cut. FACTORY EQUIPMENT | SEPTEMBER 2016 17 HANDLING EQUIPMENT

Jarshire will demonstrate handling equipment from Dotec, a dedicated manufacturer whose product portfolio has been designed around the principle of efficiency with safety. The showcase item will be the

recently-introduced Dotec Roll Handler Quick Change Concept. This will allow rolls ranging from 15kg to 200 kg to be processed quickly and easily from one machine when differing weights and reel sizes need to be processed. Utilising a fast coupling system, lighter roll handlers can be installed within one minute. This space saving concept reduces operating costs. A system which lifts and turns reels

will be shown; visitors can see how easy the Dotec system is to operate.
