EDITOR’S CHOICE SUPPLEMENT FEATURE
EASILY INTEGRATED SURGE ARRESTERS
MAINTENANCE-FREE IN- LINE JUNCTION BOX
Hylec-APL’s new Debox 2 SL in-line cable junction box which can be assembled in a few seconds, against several minutes for a traditional junction box. Debox 2 SL is supplied complete with all components needed to join flat or round profile cable, including a UL and VDE- approved 4-pole terminal block, to save electricians on-site installation time and reduce costs. Being a 100 per cent tool-less junction box, with everything required immediately to hand, installers are not delayed in the search for dropped screws or missing components. The cable junction box is IP20 protected and suits internal applications, including ring main lighting, LED lighting and power. Debox 2 SL includes a 4-pole screw-less push wire terminal block (max current 16A), suitable for either
The DEHNcord is a flexible range of type two surge arresters that can be easily integrated into flush- mounted systems, cable ducts, flush-type boxes and end use terminal equipment. They are ideally suited to the protection of LED lights and control panels. The latest additions to the range are specifically aimed at protection of LED light masts and indoor LED light strips. The new models not only provide surge protection of the LED light supply, but also the control phase as well. Dual visual fault indication for the
discharge path of the supply voltage and the control phase. The DEHNcord can be easily incorporated into existing systems ensuring reliable protection of terminal equipment at minimum expense, taking up little space and saving installation time.

flat or round profile cable with a minimum conductor size of 0.5mm, maximum 2.5mm. The push wire/push button terminal block offers a guarantee of up to 50 connector insertions. After inserting the cables and closing the included cable clamps, the lid is simply snapped shut and held with the supplied locking clip. A ratchet arm holds the cables securely within the junction box and features a tailer for improved ratchet control. It also has rip-off mounting ears for securely mounting the box. Debox 2 SL junction are flame retardant to UL940V 0 and they conform to the EN60598-1 (13.3.2) Glow Wire Test.

www.hylec-apl.com LIGHTING CONTROL WITH BUILT-IN PRE-SETS
CP Electronics has unveilled its next generation of Vitesse Plus, a seven-channel lighting control system specially designed for educational and commercial applications, as well as retail spaces. Created in response to the recent implementation of the
Building Information Modelling (BIM) mandate and Education Funding Agency (EFA) guidelines, as well as a growing need to find a cost-effective solution which is easy to set up, Vitesse Plus meets the diverse needs of customers across a range of sectors. Comprised of seven channels spaced over 12 outputs, Vitesse Plus offers flexibility and control. It is a
stand-alone system with a built-in pre-set configuration menu which enables users to set up and re- configure spaces quickly and intuitively. The system is designed with the installer in mind; it offers multiple mounting options and simple
plug-in connection of luminaires and peripheral devices such as occupancy detectors and scene plates. With 18 SELV inputs, up to five centre-biased retractive switches and a separate keyswitch for emergency lighting testing can be connected. This affords the installer and end user total control, as these can be configured individually or in groups.

HOSES MEET NEW RAILWAY FIRE SAFETY STANDARD
Eaton has launched a new range of hydraulic hoses for the European railway industry to meet the new European fire safety standard EN45545-2, as well as the common EN854 (2TE) and EN857 (1SC/2SC) standards. The EN45545-2 standard replaces the previous national fire safety standards enforced within the European Union (NF F16-101, BS 6853, DIN 5510 and UNI CEI 11170). Typical applications include for instance on-board hydraulic lines, air brakes, sanding lines and door systems. Eaton offers a variety of EN45545-2 certified hoses, ranging from
wire and textile braided hoses to spiral and air-conditioning hoses (with fire sleeve only). These hoses feature a tighter bend radius, which helps offer more
flexibility. Both can be used with Eaton’s non-skive one-piece Through the Cover series hose fittings for easy assembly.

COMPLEX POWER SUPPLY SYSTEMS REQUIRE RELIABLE LOAD PROTECTION
Switch mode power supplies are the core of power supply systems, as they electronically monitor output voltage and output current. If there is a short circuit or an overload, protective devices downstream - such as circuit breakers - react slower than the power supply and do not ensure selectivity. This can cause critical situations like voltage drops or even cable fires. Murrelektronik’s MICO modules help eliminate
these problems. MICO is an essential component for protecting power supply systems, enabling errors to be found quickly while availability remains high. With MICO, you can select a maximum, individual current value for each channel and monitor this value. MICO also indicates when it is approaching the maximum load, via a visual alarm, which is activated when 90 per cent of the selected current load is reached. When there are short circuits, or if the selected load current is exceeded, MICO switches the affected channel off. MICO provides flexibility as each channel can be individually switched off. MICO is also certified according to NEC class 2, monitoring components without UL approval. Class 2 circuits are energy-limited circuits: the maximum power is 100VA. Murrelektronik
