RECRUITER Educating the nation

Academies Enterprise Trust offers top-quality school-led teacher training in over 60 schools across the country

A

cademies Enterprise Trust (AET) is a network of 66 primary, secondary and special academies across England. Its aim is to ‘make our best

better’ because it believes that every child deserves an excellent education. AET offers the school-led route into teaching (School Direct). Its one-year programme is accredited by good and outstanding universities and teacher training providers. Your professional learning journey begins when you join AET as a trainee teacher. AET needs great teachers and inspiring individuals; in a nutshell, the Trust needs you! Teaching is an exciting and

rewarding career that allows you to share your passion and make a difference to the lives of children and young people.

What is School Direct? School Direct offers both tuition fee-based and salaried routes into teacher training at primary, secondary and special academies. Tuition fee-based positions are funded by loans, bursaries and scholarships, while salaried routes attract government funding to subsidise salary and training costs.

What will your training look like? You will spend the majority of your time training in the academy of your choice with a contrasting experience during your programme. This will allow you to build your confidence in an academy environment, while receiving excellent mentoring support from passionate

teachers and educationalists with a track record of offering outstanding initial teacher training.

What qualifications will I get? AET provides an opportunity for you to gain professional qualifications: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) and master’s credits, and do so within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Will I be offered a job at the end of my training? An academy will recruit you as a trainee onto their School Direct programme with an expectation of employing you, should a position be available in the Trust. The training year will be your first step onto AET’s professional learning journey, with lots of opportunities to develop your career within the Trust. It actively

encourages all trainees to engage in research and development.

How do I apply for teacher training? For more information, and to start your all-important first conversation, contact the Talent Team on 0845 453 0060, or email AET at teachertraining@ academiesenterprisetrust.org. n

“Teaching is one of the most

rewarding jobs that you will ever have. It is hard work; you will have moments where you think the children just do not understand what you are saying and then they completely surprise you and get it. It is such a great feeling!” Karlie Stone, Hamford Primary Academy
