Danish lighting specialist Louis Poulsen typifies a very understated Scandinavian elegance that prioritises function over ornamentation
“We’ve been in the lighting business as long as there has been electricity,” says Peter Rathsach. “Every single day, we are driven by our passion for good lighting and its relationship with architecture.” When it comes to lighting, Peter knows what

DESIGN CLASSICS It all started in 1924, when electrical goods wholesaler Louis Poulsen met the promising young designer and architect Poul Henningsen. Together they developed a philosophy based on the relationship between people and artificial light, something that became a defining vision of their products. Within a year they were winning gold medals at the International Exhibition for Decorative Art in Paris.
