Christmas tree lights switch-on
Help us launch this year’s Wishing Tree Appeal for sick children at the Trust with this festive get-together, with carols and mince pies, from 16.00.
I owe my life to the children’s intensive care unit at St Mary’s Hospital.
James Beckett was ten years old when he was treated at the children’s intensive care unit at St Mary’s Hospital after he came down with a very serious case of meningococcal septicaemia. As a thank you to the unit that saved his life, James, now 28, and his father David abseiled ten storeys down St Mary’s Hospital earlier in the year, raising a total of £630 for the St Mary’s Hospital More Smiles Appeal, run jointly by Imperial College Healthcare Charity and COSMIC. The major £2 million appeal supports a project to create a bigger, state-of-the-art children’s intensive care unit at St Mary’s with almost double the number of beds. The appeal passed the half-way mark in August 2016 thanks to the efforts of supporters like James. “I owe my life to the children’s intensive care unit at St Mary’s Hospital and I am so pleased to have helped the appeal reach £1 million.”
