Earlier this year, the venture suffered a blow following the departure of a senior executive. It arrived in a blaze of publicity a few years back, and made headlines in 2013 when it raided Barclays for the bank’s Head of Mobile and Digital Architecture Ian Sayers, who came onboard as Chief Technology Officer. But promised launch dates for the Pay by Bank offering failed to come to anything, Apple Pay stole a march on the service when it hit the UK last year and then Sayers departed, taking up the role of Head of Architecture at Danske Bank.
Having four of the UK’s biggest High Street banks onboard is, however, a shot in the arm. And Zapp is confident that other banks will soon follow. David Yates, CEO VocaLink, says: “We’re delighted to announce our partnership with
