IBS Journal February 2016

As we are moving closer to that time of the year when we unveil the results of the Sales League Table (to be published in the March edition of IBS Journal), the data is pouring in.

It needs to be scrutinised, verifi ed, collated and ana- lysed of course – and our team is on the case – but how is it shaping up so far? Does 2015 look to have been a good year for core software vendors, were the banks keen to modernise their back offi ce operations?

An early sneak peek instils hope – a number of vendors, particularly in the treasury and capital markets (TCM) space can indeed congratulate themselves on a fruitful 2015.

Universal/retail banks have also been modernising in healthy numbers, the early fi ndings reveal, with the emerging markets being the hotspots of activity (no surprises there, at least so far). It should be noted, how- ever, that the majority of the deals submitted for the Sales League Table to date are in the low- to mid-tier space. The deal of the year is yet to be uncovered...

And what about here and now – who is looking for new core software this year? National Bank of Tajikistan, Tajikistan’s central bank and regulator, is planning a

core banking software renovation, and is looking for a consultant to help it put together an RFP and assist with the subsequent selection (see p19 for further details).

In Russia, Gazprombank, one of the largest domestic banks, is understood to be resuming its core software search, although due to the current political climate it remains to be seen whether any international vendors stand a chance.

As always, we’ll continue to keep a close eye on the core banking software market and report on the good, the bad and the inevitably ugly.
