CoC Webinar Tis last summer at Convention in Omaha,

the Commission on Churches held some spe- cial sessions for pastors and lay leaders on soul care. Convention speaker Chris Boucher led a discussion on the practical value of soul care in pastoral ministry. To follow up on those exciting meetings,

the Commission led an all-day webinar with Chris Boucher on March 7. Pastors and lay leaders read through the first book, Gospel Conversations by Robert Kellerman in preparation for the webinar. Most people met at one of three locations: Omaha, Neb.; Dalmeny, Sask., and Grunthal, Man. Some others joined in from other locations through the internet only. Tis was an excellent time of “iron sharpen-

ing iron.” Another similar webinar will be offered in a few months as the pastors and lay leaders work through the next book, Gospel-Centered Counseling also by Robert Kellerman.

Covenant Eyes® Covenant Eyes® soſtware is designed to make

the internet a safer place. Te length of time between an impure thought and activity that may have dramatic repercussions is measured in seconds on the internet. Covenant Eyes creates a barrier between the user and dangerous places on the internet. It also reveals concerns to an accountability partner who will act redemptive- ly in the life of people facing temptation. For several months, FEBC has been

offering Covenant Eyes to our pastors. Te standard cost of Covenant Eyes is $10.99 per month. FEBC offers this service at $2 per month! Several churches are utilizing this service through FEBC. It is available to all of our churches.

With the Lord Elvin Fast (91) was an FEBC trustee and a member of the Canadian Board of

Directors throughout the 1990s. His leadership ability and resourcefulness were a tremendous asset for both boards as they dealt with many issues concerning church property and financial matters. Elvin was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church in Steinbach, Man. He died on October 25, 2016. Agnes Buhler Tarp (78), a missionary sent out by Cornerstone Bible Church of

Mountain Lake, Minn., died December 29, 2016, in France. Agnes began working in France under Greater Europe Mission in 1966. In 1969 she married Gregory Tarp. Trough the years they ministered to children and youth, first to foster children and later to youth throughout France by publishing Christian books and “DYNAMO,” a magazine for Francophone youth. Agnes was personally involved in music at church, in prayer groups and with follow-up of new believers. Kenton Becker, a fellow missionary to France, recalls his friendship with Agnes: I finally met Agnes in 2007 when I took some young people to the biggest youth

rally in France in the last 25 years. It was in the same town as where the Tarps minister. Agnes and Greg welcomed all of us — eight youth and one old fogey (me) — into their home for two nights. To play host and hostess to nine people is quite a feat, but they ac- complished it with no problem, being both very gracious and flexible with our schedule. Agnes was one of several people on our email list who would respond with a sen-

tence or two of encouragement. She is an example to us of a faithful servant who was content to do what the Lord was calling her to do; the church in France is stronger for that life example. Another missionary friend commented: Agnes will be remembered as one who deeply loved the Lord and sought to serve

Him with all her being. People who didn’t know her Savior were prayed for as she reached out to them. At the same time she did all she could to help fellow Christians in their walk with God. Abram (Abe) Unrau (84) passed away December 30, 2016. Abe and his wife,

Mary, began their ministry as missionaries to Italy in 1958, serving under GMU (now Avant Ministries). Tey were supported by Salem Church of Waldheim, Sask. Aſter 10 years they returned to Canada, and in 1969 Abe became the pastor of North Park Bible Church of Saskatoon, Sask. From 1971–74 he pastored Christian Fellowship Chapel of Winnipeg, Man. In the years following he pastored several other churches outside of FEBC. Phyllis Ingle (73) was a member of the Commission on Women’s Ministries

from 2003–2012, and chaired the commission for many of those years. She had a special concern for the FEBC women in missions and did much to encourage them. Phyllis passed away on January 8. A memorial service was held at Crosspoint Bible Church in Omaha where she had been a member for many years.
