Characters of the Passion: Who Said That? Comment
1. When they said, “Te Lord needs it,” I let them take my donkey colt.
2. How could I show my love to him for all he had done for our family? He had raised my brother to life! I poured my nard on him.
3. I just thought that it would be best for our nation if one man should die so all the people wouldn’t be killed by the Romans.
4. When I realized they intended to kill him, I had a tomb built near Golgotha. 5. I didn’t understand why he would wash my feet. I almost refused his touch. 6. My kiss identified him. He knew what I was doing, but called me “friend.” 7. With a touch he repaired my ear. Would you like to see my souvenir from that night? 8. When I heard him talk, I knew he was one of Jesus’ companions. 9. My nightmares convinced me that he was innocent. 10. I was ruthless and cruel, but they liked me and hated Jesus. 11. I washed my hands, but I never did feel clean again. 12. I was a tourist, but they grabbed me and made me carry the man’s cross. 13. We wept for him as he passed, but he told us the worst horrors were yet to come. 14. We offered him sour wine and told him to save himself.
15. When he said, “Look, your son,” I knew I would be taken care of by the one who loved him most.
16. When Jesus said, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?,” I ran to get him a drink.
17. When it was all over, I said, “Surely, this was the Son of God.” 18. A hundred pounds of myrrh and aloes were too small a giſt for what he had done for me. 19. I was skeptical, but when I saw his hands and feet, I confessed, “My Lord and my God.”
20. When I saw the charcoal fire on the beach, I remembered how we had shivered by that fire at his trial.
