TERRA Travel, one of Northern Irelands longest established travel companies, is now celebrating 50 years in business. Terra Travel have three offices in Northern Ireland: Portadown, Lurgan and Rushmere Shopping Centre. Managing Director Damian Murphy said: “We are delighted to be celebrating 50 years in business- its an achievement for any company never mind a travel business. The company founded by my father in 1972 and as well as marking 50 years with various promotions for our customers we have also done a mini restructure of the business with 3 new promotions.” He continued: “In our Lurgan office Barbara Freeburn becomes Assistant Manager. Barbara will help Marie (office manager) with the day to day running of the office and brings a wealth of travel experience to the role. In our Portadown office Sharon Garland becomes office manager. This is the first new manager in this branch in almost 30 years and Sharon will have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the office. Sharon has been with us for over 30 years and is well known throughout the industry. “Our biggest move sees Janine Barr promoted to Company Retail Manager. The role will be a wide ranging one which will see her work alongside the directors with overall responsibility for sales. She will also play a vital role communicating between staff and directors – I feel this will be one of the most prominent roles in the industry and I know Janine will bring a fresh outlook on things for us. It’s fair to say everyone involved with Terra Travel are looking forward to a great 2023.”
IN A video announcement made on Twitter, the High Commissioner of India to the UK announced the reinstating of E-Visa use for British passport holders. This means that those travelling on a British passport can apply online for a visa to travel to India, without having to attend an in person interview. Vikram K Doraiswami, the
High Commissioner of India to the UK, showcased his delight a the news, stating: “We are rolling out e-visas
once again and this service will be made available to you forthwith. (Dates will be announced shortly). This announcement should enable friends from the UK to travel far more easily to India. So welcome back, e-visas are up ahead and all of our other services including visas at your doorstep remain available to you. We look forward to a good winter season in which everyone gets to celebrate their festivals in India which is the land of festivals.” Previous to this, India had withdrew the ability to apply via online form back in 2020 and requested all UK nationals attend an interview application in person.

tourists coming to the city just for sex, drugs and alcohol. The

campaign’ reportedly bids to reduce the amount of ‘nuisance’ Brits using the sex and drug industry in Amsterdam as a means to cut down unrolling and disorderly behaviour. With Amsterdam on the
mouth of seeing 18 million night stays for 2022 in the city, Deputy Mayor Sofyan Mbarki said: “The aim of the discouragement campaign is to keep out visitors that we do not want. “If we love the city, we
must take action now. Action is needed to prevent nuisance and overcrowding. Amsterdam is a world city and bustle and liveliness come along with this but to keep our city liveable we need to choose limits instead of irresponsible growth. “We want to get rid of commercial parties who earn their money from vulgar touristic entertainment in the already scarce public space in the city centre: entertainment that does not take any account of Amsterdammers who live, live or work in the city.”
