Direct Flights from Dublin to Tel Aviv to Take-Off in March 2023
LOGANAIR have ceased flights between Londonderry and Edinburgh. The last Loganair service between Derry to Edinburgh is set to take off on 3 January 2023. However, a spokesperson from Loganair
has stated that the cancellation of this route will enable the airline to increase it’s service between City of Derry Airport and Glasgow Airport. In a statement, Loganair highlighted “We’re changing out schedules at City of Derry to adapt to market demand and are pleased to announce additional services between Glasgow and the City of Derry,” The service between City of Derry Airport
and Glasgow is set to increase to a daily frequency in summer 2023. Loganair further highlighted that, “however,

intensified low-fare competition from services at Belfast means that our corresponding service from Edinburgh to City of Derry can no longer be viably sustained, particularly given higher fuel prices.” “The last flight will operate 3rd January
2023, ensuring that our customers’ important travel plans over the Christmas and New Year period aren’t affected by this change.” “After that date, customers booked will
be able to choose to move to our enhanced Glasgow-Derry service, change their date for travel or receive a full refund.” “We remain fully committed to the City
of Derry Airport, the wider region and Loganair’s dedicated team of employees based at Derry. We look forward to growing our service from Glasgow in 2023.”
UK Civil Aviation Authority Urges Football Fans To Make World Cup a Winner
DUBLIN Airport has announced that EL AL Israel Airlines is to launch direct flights from Dublin to Tel Aviv in Israel from March 26, 2023. EL AL confirmed the new route on Monday, November 7 at World Travel Market Portfolio, Europe’s largest tourism exhibition, in London. EL AL plans to operate three weekly flights between Dublin and Tel Aviv from next spring. The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with EL AL operating a Boeing 737 aircraft with a flight time of approximately six hours and offering both economy and business class with full on-
board service. According to Vincent Harrison, Managing Director of Dublin Airport: “The addition of this direct route will open up a new sun destination for Irish travellers and is likely to prove popular also with those seeking to make a pilgrimage journey to the Holy Land. The route will also come as good news to the ever- growing number of Israeli businesses that are present in Ireland. We look forward to the commencement of the new EL AL service from Dublin Airport next spring.” Celebrating the news, Vincent was joined
at WMT this morning by Oranit Beithalahmy from El Al, plus Tourism Ireland board members Shane Clarke and Joseph Dolan.
WITH just weeks to go before England and Wales kick off their campaign, the UK Civil Aviation Authority is urging those planning to fly to Qatar to make sure their bookings are ATOL protected and not ruined by booking fake deals or being ripped off by people falsely posing as reputable travel agents. So that consumers can enjoy football’s biggest competition this winter without worrying about their trip, the regulator is reminding fans to always check that a travel firm is a legitimate ATOL holder before they book, which they can do on the UK Civil Aviation Authority website. If a travel company with an ATOL stops trading, the scheme protects you if you have
booked an air package trip with them, making sure you don’t get stuck abroad or lose money. The FIFA World Cup will take place from 20 November to 18 December 2022. Paul Smith, Consumers and Markets Director at the UK Civil Aviation Authority, said: “Football fans need to know the score before booking to make sure they can enjoy the World Cup in Qatar. Nobody wants to score an own goal by not doing their research on their chosen travel firm and losing out as a result.
“Depending on how England and Wales progress some people might be tempted to make a last- minute booking to Qatar – hopefully football will be the winner with everyone enjoying a trouble-free trip.”
