AS the travel industry celebrates one year since the US reopened its international borders, Northern Ireland Travel News
takes a look at
how transatlantic flights have recovered since the pandemic.
According to the most recent
aviation data, flights from the UK to the US have risen 79% in the last twelve months, with 3,298 departures during November 2022 compared to 1,842 in November 2021

US have recovered to 92% of 2019 levels, when comparing November 2022 and 2019. Looking at November 2022, the most popular destination for UK travellers is New York JFK, with 718 flights, followed by Newark (285), Boston (237), Los
Angeles (201) and Chicago (169). Heathrow remains the UK’s largest transatlantic hub, with 88% of UK-US flights departing from the London hub this month. British Airways also remains the largest carrier between the UK and US, operating 35% of all flights, they are followed by Virgin Atlantic (17%), United Airlines (17%), American Airlines (15%) and Delta (8%).
