14 THE LOCAL TOURIST GOT TO PICK A PUMPKIN OR TWO

EXPLORING THE LAND WE LOVE

BY KIRSTY JOHNSTON kirsty@nitravelnews.com

Our Editor Kirsty and her family headed to Streamvale Farm for their recent Pumpkin Patch Event days.

Advertised as ‘The ORIGINAL and BEST Pumpkin Patch Experience in Northern Ireland’ we were excited for our first trip to Streamvale... even though the weather wasn’t the best... rain rain and more rain. Although Arthur was a bit young to wheel his own wheel barrow he had fun choosing his own pumpkin and watching the wonderful staff (very resilient in all that rain) carve out a spooky face. That was one of the best bits about the Streamvale Pumpkin Patch - they scoop out all the insides and carve it for you... no mess! Barrel and tractor rides are all included

stroking the lovely new born rabbits. Head to our ‘Chick House’ to make sure you can get hands on with lots of cute chicks. New litter of Cocker Spaniel puppies have just arrived! Available for cuddles up to and including Sunday 9th October.

Digger Zone

Fancy being a builder for the day? Head to the Digger Zone – lots of fun for all ages!

Bottle Feeding - March to June

From March to June – Help Streamvale bottle feed the baby lambs and kid goats at set times throughout the day!

Free Barrel Rides

This is great fun for kids and adults, as the big quad tows you around the new track with tunnels, twists and turns all the way!

Dog Agility & Sheepdog Show Feeding Time

Even more opportunities to feed the animals! Between the Animal Paddocks, Pet’s Corner and Piggy Palace you have plenty of opportunities to see and feed the farm animals. Streamvale have shows running throughout the day where you will be given food to feed them as well as learn a few more facts.

as well as lots of other animal shows and activities throughout the day! There was also a Broomtastic Disco! The Spooky Maze is an immersive experience, and we all enjoyed following the trail and meeting the real life characters! Didn’t get a chance to visit Streamvale’s Pumpkin Patch? Don’t worry! Check out some of the amazing things you can do at the farm all year round!

Cuddle Time This is everyone’s favourite place to be! Enjoy

Free Tractor Rides This is the best way

to see the beautiful

countryside around the farmyard. The tractor will trundle up the farm lanes and stop to enjoy fantastic views over Belfast and Dundonald. Best of all you will get out to feed the Red Deer and your driver will tell you all about them!

Chase, Streamvale’s family pet has been trained up by Helen and performs every day at his Dog Agility! This is not too serious and visitors have a great laugh as the lovable Chase performs his tricks! Also meet JED – the new puppy recruit! He will be learning the ropes from Chase and taking over when he is older! You can also see PIP in action, rounding up the sheep at the Sheepdog Show and listening to all of her commands. Very impressive!

Milk at Streamvale

As Streamvale is a real working dairy farm they milk around 250 cows twice a day. It can be a bit smelly but very fascinating to see and great for kids to learn about milk! Streamvale milk is used to make their own ice cream and the rest sold to Dale Farm.

You can try their delicious milk at our Milk Vending Machine at the top of our car park – and also try the delicious milkshakes!

Cannon Arena

This is a great place for parents and kids to play together. You can shoot the noisy targets or at each

other on the play frame. There is also a big

slide for the kids to zoom down to gather up more ‘ammo’ on the floor.

Play Village

Streamvale opened the first agricultural themed play village in the whole of Ireland! This state of the art village encourages children to learn about food and farming through play. Your kids can explore the village which includes a Vets Clinic, Farm Shop, Milking Parlour and Mechanics. This type of play is not only crucial to your child’s development but great fun!! Parents can sit

down and relax in our cosy village whilst your children lose themselves in their imagination. How many of you pretended to be a farmer or a vet when you were a child!?

Outdoor Play Area

The Trailblazer playground gets all ages racing around and is particularly well placed as parents can sit and relax and watch the children have fun. The Zip line is a firm favourite and a great way to tire out the kids! Ride on tractors and diggers are very popular with kids zooming around our purpose built track!

Pedal Go Karts

This is another great indoor play space that kids love to zoom around!

Everything is included however activities may vary depending on the weather and farming

necessities.
