Impact

restricted access to traditional fishing grounds

Key design parameters forming the worst case scenario

foundations at a minimum separation of 675m x 900m.

Maximum of three offshore collector stations.

Maximum of two offshore converter stations.

Maximum of two meteorological masts. Maximum of two Lidar buoys Maximum of one accommodation platform

Cable protection applied to a maximum of 10% of inter-array cables

Cable protection applied to a maximumof 10% of export cables east of export cable crossings with Greater Gabbard Offshore Windfarm

Cable protection applied to a maximum of 2.5% of export cables west of cable crossings with Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm

Impact 3: Safety issues for fishing vessels

Fishing vessel interaction with exposed cables.

The assessment recognises the safety risks posed by inter-array and offshore export cables, based upon:

Maximum inter-array cable length = 550km

Maximum length of offshore export cables= 195km HVAC cables and 620km HVDC

Preliminary Environmental Information May 2014

Worst case scenario based on the maximum length of inter-array, and offshore export cables and equipment potentially exposed to interaction from fishing gears or anchor interaction or dredger interaction.

Based on the greatest potential risk of allision due to maximum number of structures.

Worst case scenario describes the maximum number of wind turbines and hence increases the potential extent of the zone of radar interference.

Maximum number of structures at a minimum spacing creates greatest potential allision risk and therefore demand on emergency response.
