TASTE MAKERS
TIGGS DA AUTHOR We Ain’t Scared (Alacran Records) Tiggs Da Author only has time for good vibes, as debut album Blame It On The Youts attests. This swinging highlight finds him channelling Pharrell.

BAD BOY CHILLER CREW Don’t You Worry About Me (Relentless) Bad Boy Chiller Crew’s new single is crying out for a busy dancefloor. Make do with the video – in which the Bradford trio lark about on a farm – for now.

WOLF ALICE The Last Man On Earth (Dirty Hit)
It takes a full two-and-a-half minutes for the guitars and drums to join Ellie Rowsell’s hushed vocal and the softly-softly piano that introduce Wolf Alice’s comeback, but the wait is worth it. The Last Man On Earth is a real epic, harking back to the group’s
folkier beginnings and adding a new dimension to their grungy noise. Contact Adrian Read

AMY SHARK (FEAT. KEITH URBAN) Love Songs Ain’t For Us (RCA) Amy Shark surely has radio dynamite on her hands: an acoustic co-write with Ed Sheeran that features Keith Urban. Let its mellifluous, sad vibes sweep you away.

DENISE CHAILA (FEAT. JAFARIS) Anseo (Narolane Records) Trying to keep up with this all-action hip-hop banger (and its medieval fantasy video) is brilliant fun. Clearly, Irish rapper Denise Chaila is going places.

DRY CLEANING Strong Feelings (4AD) Dry Cleaning songs mix wandering instrumentation and deadpan spoken word. This gem features ‘scabs’, ‘mushrooms’ and ‘hot dogs’. A freakish delight.

DARKOO Pick Up (Atlantic)
Autotune, foggy beats and faraway brass create thick, emotional atmosphere in Darkoo’s new single, which recalls The Weeknd’s early recordings. Her best yet.

MEGA – FUTURE ME
Recently, I’ve been loving a super-talented North London singer called Mega. The title track from her Future Me EP has really touched me. Mega is a soul singer, who you might expect would release music with a typical R&B sound, but she never does. Her songs are always vulnerable and deep and she does it in such a unique style. I played Future Me on my radio
show as soon as it came out because I was so obsessed with it. Mega has one of those voices that really speaks to you, you hear her pain and experience in her lyrics, and you can really feel it. I have an addictive personality when it comes to music, so if I really like a song it will be on repeat, and this was one of those songs. I love how honest Mega is in her music. She hits the notes perfectly. I also love the production, it’s got such an authentic acoustic feel. She’s been making music for the past six years and what makes her story interesting is that she lost her voice for a few years, really struggled with it and came back in 2018, better than ever. Her story is really motivating and you can hear that in her music.
