Mountbatten School’s Business Patrons’ Club along with representatives from local authorities such as councillor Roy Perry, leader of Hampshire County Council, Mary Greggains,
committee member of Romsey Chamber and Wayne Palmer, managing director of Thinking Space. Debbie Holmes, Abbotswood Court Homes admission advisor, says: “Abbotswood Court is passionate about supporting people in all stages of life. As members of The Mountbatten School’s Business Patrons’ Club, we are keen to offer all the help we can in creating links between the school and local companies. “This is our way of trying to help address
the nationwide skills shortage and give local students the skills for a brighter future. We were honoured to host the recent meeting, which is just one small way we can lend a helping hand.”

for being a compassionate advocate for people with dementia and their families who has established a caring culture in which staff and residents have flourished. Speaking of her success,

properties to facilitate independent lifestyles. “Many older people are remaining in homes
unsuited to their changing needs simply because there are no attractive alternatives. Creating aspirational retirement property in the middle section of the market is therefore critical and addressing this need is an exciting step forward.” Pip Prongue, managing director (South) for
Kier Property, says: “We are delighted to have secured Mayfield Villages as a partner. This agreement marks another important step towards the delivery of the Watford Riverwell regeneration project and will further enhance the scheme’s housing offer.”
Prime Minister helps resident celebrate
Theresa May took time out of her busy schedule to help one of her constituents celebrate a very special birthday. Irene Thompson, a resident at Clara Court care home, celebrated her 109th birthday on 11 December and as well as spending time with her family and friends, she was joined by special guests, Theresa and Philip May. The Prime Minister and her husband spent
time chatting to Irene and her family before joining the rest of the residents and the Care UK team in celebrating Irene’s landmark birthday. To mark the occasion, the home team held a special party, where Irene and the Prime Minister were the guests of honour, and there were plenty of treats and musical entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Irene lived in her own home until she was
108, with occasional carers coming to support her, until she moved to Clara Court in January 2017. She says the secret to a long life is always being happy and content with life. Debbie Winwood, home manager at Clara
Court, says: “It was an honour to welcome Theresa May to Clara Court for what was an enjoyable afternoon celebrating Irene’s birthday. Irene was looking forward to celebrating with her family and friends, and there was a real buzz of excitement when the Prime Minister’s visit was announced. “Residents are at the heart of everything we
do here at Clara Court and we always like to make an occasion of important milestones such as birthdays. Irene had a really wonderful time celebrating with her family and friends, and we were delighted to welcome Theresa May and her husband who helped make the day even more special.”
