MEDICA PREVIEW 2016
Blade and scalpel safety solutions It was recently announced that Swann-
Swann-Morton will be exhibiting its range of British manufactured surgical blades and scalpels. Sales and marketing director, Chris Taylor, said: “We hope that this year’s event will provide a platform for us to reinforce the importance of raising local awareness of the availability of our sharps safety solutions not only among our EU-based partners but also those located even further afield.”
Morton is to be the new UK, French and Polish distributor for the Qlicksmart safety products which will form a natural extension to its existing range of sharps safety solutions. The single-use blade remover, retractable safety scalpels, including the popular stitch cutter and the Kleen blade management system are now joined by a Qlicksmart range which features Blade Flask, Blade Single, Blade Cassette and the BladeNeedleSystem which offers safer ways of removing and disposing of contaminated blades after use. Also on display will be SnapIT, an
easy-to-use multi-use glass ampoule opener which is said to help to reduce the high rate of sharps injury rates seen when ampoules are opened by hand. Visit: Hall 13, Stand F65
EN16442 compliant endoscope storage solutions
Endoscopes need to be used within four hours of reprocessing unless they are stored under the right conditions. The Scope-Store from LTE Scientific is a secure storage cabinet which has been specifically designed to facilitate endoscope storage for up to 14 days without the need for reprocessing before
use. Up to 10 endoscopes can be stored and are dried both inside and out using HEPA filtered air.
Operator access to the cabinet is only possible via PIN-code, barcode or RFID. Monitor timers for each loaded scope allows easy visibility of elapsed storage period and scope status is easily seen and checked via the touchscreen. Full traceability of each
endoscope’s storage conditions is available either in printed form or can be downloaded to a PC. This includes air flow, volume, door open times, user details and (optionally) maximum/minimum temperature and RH. There are three loading capacities available – five and 10-scope vertical hanging units and an
eight-scope shelf-loaded model. Pass through and ENT models are also available. The LTE Scope-Store range has been tested to EN16442. In addition, LTE also manufactures a range of Scope-Stores specifically for non-lumened ENT scopes, available in five, 10 and 20-scope capacities. Visit: Hall 12, Stand B07
