2016 Let the countdown to
K2016 begin! Here, and on the following pages, we take a look ahead to the
global plastics industry’s essential event – and
provide useful links to help you get the most from your visit
Getting prepared for K2016
In four months, it will all be over: K2016, the largest plas- tics show this year (or for the next three years), takes place in Dusseldorf, Germany on 19-26 October 2016. The organiser of the show, Messe Dusseldorf, will be
looking to improve on the 218,000 visitors who made it through the doors at K2016. The show will once again fill all 19 halls of the venue
– where an expected 3,038 exhibitors will promote their raw materials, additives, semi-finished products, machinery, ancillary equipment and services to the plastics industry. Attendance in 2016 was slightly down on the previous
event in 2010 – by around 5,000 visitors – but Messe Dusseldorf says the European plastics industry is approaching the show in a good state of health and “cautious optimism”. The Science Campus will return this year, to help
“intensify dialogue between research and industry” in an enlarged area that includes more participants – in- cluding Darmstadt University, the Institute of Polymer Technology (IKT) at the University of Stuttgart, and VDI – the Association of German Engineers. It will focus on four key themes: resource efficiency; Plastics Industry 4.0; new materials; and, lightweight engineering. There will also be a special event called ‘Plastics shape the future’, to highlight developments that are already taking shape – and some that may become a reality in the future.
