Battenfeld- Cincinnati’s

TwinEx parallel twin screw

extruders are designed for

high productiv- ity in PVC pipe and profile

TwinEx 93-28D, which was recently introduced in China. It can be used for profile and pipe – as well as PVC sheet extrusion. Recently, profile producers have become more environmentally conscious and are demanding highly energy-efficient products. Battenfeld-Cincinnati says that the TwinEx range offer cost and material savings. Depending on the application, outputs range from 115 to 2,500kg/h. Previous to this, the company used a line based on a FiberEx 93 extruder to make a special ‘H-profile’ at its recent open house event during AMI’s Wood-Plastic Composites conference in Vienna in March. The profile, made from 72% wood fibre and 28%

polypropylene, was a key component in temporary housing made entirely from WPC profiles. The H-profile was used as a connecting element in the final assembly.

Quick change irrigation The dual bowl configuration of Maillefer extruders allows producers of irrigation products to switch quickly from one product to another. A consolidated frame allows producers to make set-up adjustments in a few simple steps. The opera- tion of switching to a waiting bowl – filled with new drippers – takes less than half an hour, says the company. It is especially simple when changing to drippers of a similar size (such as when switching from non-compensated to compensated). More important dripper differences may require additional adjustments, but they remain quite simple with a second consolidated bowl. Changing the insertion

tool and adjustments are easy, thanks to preset positions and graduated scales built into the fixed frame. The compact design of the dual-bowl keeps the line

footprint to a minimum, while the width of the line with a dual-bowl is identical to that of a single one. Quality settings are consistent and repeatable, and insertion start-ups and stops are fail-safe – which translates to low scrap when doing the change. The dual-bowl concept is available as an option on

all micro-drip irrigation lines for flat drippers, for both thin and heavy wall product.
