Here’s how to protect your well-seasoned cast iron pan when it needs cleaning: Crumple up a large piece of foil and use it to scrub off any burnt-on gunk. For even more scrubbing power, sprinkle a thick layer of salt over the pan before you clean it.

Sharpen scissors
Kitchen shears not as sharp as they should be? Simply fold a sheet of aluminum foil several times lengthwise, so you have a thick strip. Cut through the strip several times, using as much of the blade as possible, from base to tip. Voilà, noticeably sharper scissors.
