Ontario Mushroom Farms has built a modern indoor facility (on the left of the picture) with eight large bunkers with a capacity of 850 tons of phase I compost and a preparation hall, where raw materials like straw and poultry manure are brought in and processed. Before the construction (here still in progress), employees had to work in extreme winter conditions, as temperatures can plummet to as low as -40 degrees Celsius here. The new facility has all kinds of special features, read about them on page 28-31. On the right you can see the transport belts to transport compost from the indoor facility to the tunnels.
