MEETING Dutch Mushroom Week


Members of the Executive Committee of the International Society for Mushroom Science met on 3 June to visit the venue of the 19th ISMS conference that will be held next year parallel to the 34th edition of


the Dutch Mushroom Days. The kick off for a massive event. By Roel Dreve

or the first time since ‘Maastricht 2000’, the major trade fair for the mushroom industry and the world’s leading scientific conference will be organised in partnership in May and June next year. From 29 May until 2 June 2016, the Dutch cities of Den Bosch and Amsterdam will play hosts during this special ‘Mushroom Week’ which will be the place to be for all professionals active in the edible mushroom sector.

Such a huge event entails a mountain of organ- isational work, which is being overseen by the ExCom of the ISMS, chaired by Greg Seymour, and the organising committee of the Mushroom Days headed by Piet Lempens. Libéma Exhibi-


tions is arranging the practical organisation of the Mushroom Days again, while CAOS Confer- ence Organisers is responsible for completing the details of the ISMS conference. Many of the people charged with the organisa- tion, from the Netherlands, Australia, the USA and China, congregated in the Dutch capital on 3 June. As Official Media Partner of the event, Global Roel Media was also present.

Hans Maartje Rupert proudly led us on a guided tour of the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ. It has to be said, this ‘Concert Hall of the 21st Century’ is a wonderful location for a conference. The ambiance of the building, constructed mainly of wood and glass and offering panoramic river
