The organisation of the 8th International Conference on Mushroom Biology and Mushroom Products in New Delhi, India, from 19-22 No- vember 2014 is in full swing. Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR), Solan (India), Mushroom Society of India (MSI) and World Society for Mushroom Biology and Mushroom Products (WSMBMP) invite you to participate in the 8th ICMBMP conference and trade fair, being held at the NASC Complex in New Delhi.


According to the organiser: ‘This will be an excellent opportunity for people from around the world to


meet, discuss, and share knowledge on mushroom sci- ences and technologies. We cordially invite researchers, students and professionals to attend this important con- ference and trade exhibits, as it will be supported by an excellent academic pro- gram. We are confident that with the continued level of support and financial com- mitment from sponsors, we can stage a conference that will be both rewarding and memorable for all those who participate’. To ensure participation, it is mandatory to register on the website. The current date of registration i.e. 1st July is being extended to 15th July 2014. The registration fee


can be paid at a later date, details of which are availa- ble on the website. Similarly abstract can be submitted by the registered participant even before payment of re- gistration fee. The Important dates are: Call for abstracts closes: July 15. Last date for regis- tration: July 15. Notification to authors and issue of visa invitation letters: July 31. Last date for full papers: Sept 15. Hooymans compost symposium


Hooymans Compost BV in The Netherlands will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary. To start the jubilee, the company organises an international symposium on Agaricus compost on 5 September. According to Jan Hooymans: “Over the past 25 years, we have come in contact with you and many other people within the mushroom industry. Without these valuable contacts, it would have been impossible for us to build up the company as it is today. To start our jubilee we want to take a look into the future together with our fellow composters, scientists and sup- pliers by organizing a sympo- sium.” Therefore, Hooymans has invi- ted compost specialists from


around the world to participate in the Symposium on Agar- icus compost, which will be held on Friday 5th September, 2014. During this symposium, three major topics related to mushroom compost will be addressed by the following internationally well known experts: Dr . Ralph Noble (East Malling Research, UK) - Straw/ Raw materials; Dr . Anton Son- nenberg (WageningenUR, NL) – Mycelium; Dr . David Beyer (PennState, USA) – Supple- ments. The symposium will be chaired by Mr. Greg Seymour (President of ISMS). In addition, there will be a tour within the compost plant and a dinner with all participants. The company hopes for a fruitful discussion during this event.
