For the love of
Here are 15 of the best beer experiences you can have in Chicago.
AS A CITY, we have a deep love of beer and our brewing scene runs through Chicago like the river—only we’d be willing to actually jump in a river overflowing with beer. There’s something special about pairing the perfect local brew with the events, people and places that make Chicago the amazingly dynamic city it is.

Want pure Chicago magic? Try taking a seat in the bleachers at Wrigley Field—and it’s
even more magical if you can spend an afternoon at the Friendly Confines once October rolls around. A seat above the ivy and a cold beer in hand? We’re as happy as can be.
When the weather turns warm, street festivals dominate our neighborhoods,
and we wouldn’t trade back-to-back weekends of street food, local makers, cold beers and our favorite cover bands for anything.

One of our favorite ways to experience beer is by sidling up to the bar at the city’s
ever-growing list of taprooms. There’s something uniquely Chicago about being able to pick the bartender’s brain about that particular brew at spots like Whiner Beer Company, Off Color Brewing and On Tour Brewing.

Sure, we love cheering on the Blackhawks, but we also love a little-known gem. Find
generous pours in a no-frills atmosphere with hockey 24/7 at the Stanley Club. Tucked inside Johnny’s IceHouse East, we love cheering on locals just as much as we love the pros.
Once we have a little liquid courage, there are few things we love as much as crooning
our way into the early-morning hours at a karaoke bar. That magic feeling that washes over you when your favorite song comes on at Alice’s Lounge and the whole room joins in on the chorus is unbeatable.

Friday night is pizza night—yes, even as grown-ups. We’re nostalgic that way,
apparently, but there are few ways we love kicking off our weekend more than with a slice from Dante’s and our favorite six-pack in hand to wash it all down.
Chicago boasts a lot of great music venues, but not too many great music venues with
as much history or as impressive a beer list as Thalia Hall. We’d see just about any band here for the excuse to drink our way through most of Chicago within one venue, but lucky for us there’s usually a great show on stage, too.

We get all mushy with love and good vibes every June when the Pride parade brings rainbows and pop music through most of the North Side. We’ll gladly let the good vibes for equality wash over us with a drink in hand.
Man did we luck out when arcades started turning into bars a few years ago? Because the only thing better than being a kid playing Pac-Man is being an adult playing Pac-Man with a frothy one in hand.
