CONTRACTS Derby-based health and safety consultants and training providers CIM Associates UK Ltd has secured its first two international contracts.
Managing director Ian Meredith will spend the next three months in Ireland, training members of staff at two different companies - Billfinger Europa & Noonan Services Group.
Through the support of cleaning and hygiene manufacturer, Diversey Care Sealed Air, Ian will spend the majority of April in Dublin at its site office before moving to Southern Ireland where he will spend May and June working with healthcare professionals and teams in hospitals.
Each company will be trained in three core mandatory skills (safe assembly of equipment, chemical competence and storage of equipment and materials) and seven additional base skill units.
On successful completion of the 10 required skills the candidates will then be trained to BICSc assessor level before undergoing final approval by a BICSc Verifier. These candidates will then be approved to train, assess and certify other employees in their organisation.
Ian commented: “Securing our first international contract is very exciting, but to secure two so close together is just incredible. It’s fantastic to see that the name and reputation of our company is spreading, both in the UK and internationally.”

used a partnership model to deliver its products and services.
Richard Evens, commercial director at the British Safety Council, said: “The Turkish Government recently introduced new laws regulating safety and health in the workplace and ratified important ILO conventions. The British Safety Council and DOGA will provide the other piece of the jigsaw: trained employees and managers, audited management systems and access to advice and information.”
Sertac Guven, managing director of DOGA HSE Training and Consulting, added: “There are currently too many work related fatalities in Turkey and with this partnership with the British Safety Council we will be in a strong position to support these companies through training, audit and advice.”
The stress management initiative, set up by Nottingham City Homes’ health and safety team, began with a survey through employee representatives looking into the causes of stress in the workplace. Using this feedback, they were able to prepare a stress risk assessment programme and deliver training to managers across the organisation.
EU-OSHA director, Ms. Christa Sedlatschek, said of the win: “Our jury members acknowledged Nottingham City Homes’ proactive, systematic stress management, implemented with a strong involvement of the trade unions. Activities that included raising awareness, risk assessment, improvement in the work environment and training are an excellent example of good practice and can serve as a benchmark for other organisations.”
