Hello everyone and welcome to the April Issue of Tomorrow’s Health & Safety.
TOMORROW’S
None of us would dispute the fact that the UK has one of the best health and safety records in the world. Since the launch of the Health and Safety at Work Act, we have enjoyed year on year reductions on the number of injuries and fatalities in the workplace.
However, it is now our occupational health record that requires urgent attention. An estimated 1.2 million people who worked in 2013/14 were suffering from an illness they believed was caused or made worse by work.

This month, I spoke to Alan Murray, the chief executive of the British Industry Safety Federation, about what the trade body is doing to get our approach to occupational health up to scratch. We also talked about why we Brits struggle to take pride in our work and the dangers of the Deregulation Bill.
Enjoy the issue.
