ADVANCED PROTECT WORLD-CLASS


CHEMICAL PLANT Advanced has been chosen to protect a major UK chemical plant owned by manufacturer, Victrex, producer of high-performance polymer solutions, with their MxPro fire panels.


The fire system installed at the Lancashire-based Victrex Hillhouse site is built around MxPro fire panels from Advanced. The system was recently expanded with new MxPro 5 panels being integrated into the existing MxPro 4 network, allowing Victrex to keep costs down and take advantage of leading features of MxPro 5, such as AlarmCalm complete false alarm management.


Steve Fairhurst, Control and Electrical Project Engineer for Victrex, said: “We needed up-to-date technology for the installation that was expandable, reliable and able to interface with the existing panels we had installed. We are currently working on a new

ANNOUNCED The British Safety Council has announced the winners of its 2017 International Safety Awards, which recognise and celebrate organisations that have shown a dedication to keeping their workers and workplaces healthy and safe.


This year, 531 organisations of all sizes and sectors won an International Safety Award, including businesses from the UK, Africa, Asia, India, mainland Europe and the Middle East.


In total 31 organisations were awarded a distinction, 300 were awarded a merit and 200 organisations achieved a pass.

Approved to EN54 parts 2, 4 and 13, MxPro 5 panels can be used in single loop, single panel format or easily configured into high speed, 200 panel networks covering huge areas and tens of thousands of field devices.


Amanda Hope, UK Business Development Manager added: “Our MxPro 5 panel range offers the performance, reliability and flexibility needed by a site such as Victrex Hillhouse. The ability to utilise the existing panels and system already installed is also a major time and cost-saving feature in a complex project like this.”

The winners are drawn from various industry sectors and include construction, housebuilding, civil and rail engineering companies, such


as Connell Brothers Ltd, Ductclean (UK) and Amana Group; engineering and manufacturing businesses, such as Airbus UK Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Montrose and ISS Facilities Services, as well as transport, distribution and logistics companies, such as Aberdeen International Airport, Bibby Distribution Limited and Nahdi Medical Company. The leisure sector is also well represented with winners, such as Arsenal Football Club and the Rugby Football Union’s Twickenham Stadium.


International winners include Abu Dhabi Island, Fatima Fertilizer Company, Indian Oil, Garda World International Protective Services and Sotech General Contracting Limited.


The winners will be celebrated at the International Safety Awards Gala Dinner on Friday 5th May 2017, which also coincides with the Council's 60th anniversary celebrations.
