FLOORING NEW NOMADIC WORKSPACE PROJECT

Ceramiche Refin Fossil tiles were selected by architects Studio Abraham Crielaers as an innovative interior for Tribes, a new workplace project in

Eindhoven, the first of many flexible working developments being rolled out across northern Europe by the same team.

Gone are the days of grey-desking and bland interior office fit-outs, Tribes breaks new ground with its dynamic approach and individuality. Rigorous design principals are at the heart of this project, from the spatial layout and furniture, to the technology, materials and finishes. This is where you want to work, especially if you are part of the new culture of freelance and small businesses - hubs of creativity and networking; meet-ups and good coffee, plus a gym - these are now the staples of day-to-day working life.

The Tribes space comprises of break out areas, an espresso bar, café and restaurant, conference spaces, meeting rooms, reception, nerve centre/facilities, outside space, a pop-up shop and parking to provide nomadic workers with everything possible for building a successful business.

The porcelain Fossil tiles used in this project also form part of the special

story. Back in 2014 Ceramiche Refin decided to run a “Create your Tile” competition (open to professional designers and architects only); with an illustrious judging panel including the Mendini brothers; this worldwide competition was won by a young Polish designer called Kasia Zareba. Little did she know then that her clever tile design would become an instant bestseller.

As Kasia explains: “The FOSSIL collection is inspired by prehistoric plant and animal prints found on rocky formations. The product has been designed specifically for the decoration of contemporary interiors. The design process was particularly influenced by shell prints of extinct ammonites. The hand-drawn pattern gives it a unique appearance, similar to the imprints of primordial creatures impressed on the surface of the stone."The hand-painted pattern is characterised by casual and

asymmetrical repetition, which gives the individual tiles a unique, simple and natural look, that offers a modern flooring solution to any interior.

“THE TRIBES SPACE

PROVIDES NOMADIC WORKERS WITH

EVERYTHING POSSIBLE FOR BUILDING A

SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS.”

Available in three colours: brown, beige and grey; the tiles are 60 x 60cms and available in five different patterns, each with a subtle variation that moves in different directions. The FOSSIL surface creates gentle optical illusions that create the perfect tiling solution for such an eclectic interior.
