ELEVANCE HIRES PRESIDENT AND CHIEF TECHNOLOGY


OFFICER Elevance Renewable Sciences, Inc., a high-growth company that creates novel specialty chemicals from natural oils, has announced the appointment of Karl Schoene as the company’s President and Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Schoene will help the company continue to focus on accelerating commercialisation activities and revenue growth, and focus on building world-class business development and technology capability.


“Karl’s experience in business-to- business markets and process manufacturing industries, including chemicals and renewable energy, makes him an excellent addition to our leadership team,” said Elevance


ARROW’S CHINESE INVESTMENT PAYS OFF WITH NEW


CONTRACT WINS Investment in a new Chinese operation is already paying dividends for a Leicestershire manufacturer of cleaning and maintenance products.


Arrow Solutions, which is based at a factory in Moira, has marked the first three months of trading in Shanghai with news that it has secured a string of new contracts to supply Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) and Beijing Metro.


The company is tapping into the Far East’s desire to become more environmentally conscious and has seen huge demand for a number of its industry-leading products.


“We had been seeing a lot of interest from China so took the decision to establish a real foothold in that territory,” explained Jonathan Lane, Sales Director at Arrow Solutions.

“Significant investment has been channeled into creating Arrow Trading Shanghai and this has involved an office in the city, extensive warehousing space and recruitment of a team to provide sales and technical support to our growing client base.


“Industry in the Far East is changing and it is now seriously looking at the products it uses and the impact they have on their staff and the environment. This represents a major opportunity for us and we believe we can be first to market with solutions that offer customers the answers they are demanding.”

Prior to joining Elevance, Schoene was president and CEO of Accutest Laboratories, a network of seven labs and 14 service centres across the U.S. In this role, he led nearly 700 employees through a major performance turn-around and M&A process, culminating in a sale this year to SGS, where he continued to lead the acquired business through a successful post-M&A integration.


Previously he held several positions, including president, COO and CEO of InEnTec, and prior to that, held several positions at AkzoNobel Polymer Chemicals, including Vice


President and Global SBU Manager, General Manager and Global Business Manager in organometallic specialties, polymer chemicals and agriculture applications. Schoene also held executive leadership positions at Crompton Corporation and Witco Corporation; was a manager at Amoco Corporation and Albemarle Corporation Olefins and Derivatives Division; and was a senior R&D specialist and chemist with Ethyl Corporation. He also serves at board- level and in advisory board roles to several start-ups in diverse industries, including specialty chemicals, pharma and medical devices.


Schoene earned both his B.S. and Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Virginia, and completed various post-graduate courses in executive development, engineering management and marketing through Louisiana State University and Columbia University.

Attracting delegates from business, government and industry, the function was used to outline the company’s plans in China and how it is looking to work with industry to educate them on the benefits of adopting more environmentally friendly policies.

Arrow Solutions, which is part of the £25m strong Reabrook Ltd, is looking to grow market share in the UK and in additional territories including Norway, Russia and the Middle East.
