POLYFLOR REPORTS IMPRESSIVE SUSTAINABILITY

PERFORMANCE UK vinyl flooring manufacturer Polyflor has recently published a Sustainability Report which outlines the environmental milestones achieved and improvements made by the company in the past year.

The 80-page annual report covers Polyflor’s environmental credentials, explains how vinyl is a sustainable flooring option and highlights the company’s charity work and involvement in the local community.

Key achievements for 2015 include Polyflor gaining individual BRE assessments across eight additional products, with 33 ranges achieving an A+ rating. Polyflor launched a Floor Cleaning & Maintenance Course to promote sustainable cleaning processes and maximise its floorcoverings' longevity. Polyflor received the prize for Green/ Sustainable Manufacturer of the Year at Insider’s Made in the North West awards, and in line with its BES 6001 certification the company also achieved BS OHSAS 18001.

As a co-founding and funding member of the Recofloor vinyl take-back scheme, Polyflor reports a record 508 tonnes of post-consumer waste vinyl flooring being collected in the past year; enough to cover 23 football pitches.

Polyflor’s Manufacturing Director, Steve Mulholland, commented:

“The flooring sector, as part of the wider construction industry, is a significant consumer of resources and raw materials. It is important that flooring manufacturers recognise this fact and have a good understanding of the effect of their operations on the environment on both a local and global scale. This is why a commitment to continuously improving sustainability performance is essential to build upon the progress already made and protect our environments for the future.

“Our sustainability agenda is incredibly important to Polyflor as a company with a lot of hard work and commitment going into making improvements to our environmental performance.

“Our strategy is to minimise the environmental impact of our products and operations, always setting ambitious objectives for ourselves to uphold our reputation as a company that prioritises these issues. This sets us apart from competitors and reassures customers that our products are sustainable and that we, as a company, are ethical and responsible in all areas of our business.”
