When Emily Griffith started the school 100 years ago, her mission was to provide education for all who wish to learn. Today, we continue to fulfill her mission by meeting the needs of 7,000+ students annually who attend Emily Griffith Technical Collge through innovative programming.
360 DEGREE FUND
Since the Foundation’s inception more than $3,000,000 in scholarships have been awarded to students at EGTC. While scholarship assistance is essential, often our students face life circumstances that affect attendance and completion. In early 2014, we developed the 360 Degree Program. This fund provides support beyond financial aid and classroom instruction to our most vulnerable student populations.
ENTREPRENEURIAL TRAINING PROGRAM
In addition to receiving a scholarship to help them earn a certificate in a technical program of their choice, EGTC students can apply for a scholarship to enroll in the “Starting Your Own Small Business” course. This is a comprehensive, six-week course that addresses a wide range of subject matter tailored to emerging entrepreneurs. Business topics include writing a business plan, money management, calculating cash-flow projections, and market research, among others.
CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT
In the 2014/2015 school year, Fox Family Foundation and Daniels Fund contributions allowed EGTC to eliminate financial barriers for high school students participating in Concurrent
Enrollment.
Concurrent enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take college-credit bearing courses taught by college-approved high school teachers. It is a low-cost, scalable model for bringing accelerated courses to students in urban, suburban, and rural high schools (National Alliance for Concurrent
