GET INVOLVED Invest in Your Community.

With your general operating donations, the organization can ensure program success, maintain the freedom to innovate, respond to the school’s immediate needs, and build capacity to create a sustainable endowment for future programming.

Create a Scholarship Fund. Sponsor an Event.

We would not be able to serve hundreds of students per year without our scholarship supporters. Because of the low cost of tuition coupled with Emily Griffith Technical College’s initiatives for students to graduate debt free, your scholarship contribution can go far. Individuals and businesses can set up a fund for one year or multiple years.

Each year Emily Griffith Foundation hosts the Legacy of Learning Awards Breakfast, an event honoring an individual and corporation for their commitment to life-long learning. We are always looking for sponsors to celebrate Emily’s legacy and support the sustainability of the Foundation.

Volunteer Your Time.

At the Emily Griffith Foundation, we are always looking for volunteers and interns to help with graphic design, data entry, grant writing, event planning, social networking and various administrative tasks. In addition, our board is made up of community volunteers who help to ensure the financial success of the organization.

Join the Alumni Network.

In the past 100 years, Emily Griffith Technical College has helped train and educate nearly 2 million students. At the Emily Griffith Foundation, we would like to invite our many former students to join our alumni network. This network provides benefits and services for graduates, allowing them to maintain a strong connection with EGTC and fellow students, in turn creating a stronger community.

The Foundation celebrates Emily Griffith’s legacy in many ways. Every year, the College administrators serve soup, sponsored by the Foundation, to students on Emily’s birthday. For two years soup was prepared at home by Emily’s mother and carried to the school in a water pail by Emily and her sister, Florence. The custom began in response to a boy fainting in class one evening. Emily felt he fainted because he was hungry, and if he was hungry, there were probably others who were as well. Later on, a wealthy woman arranged for meat to be delivered daily to the school. Florence arrived at 2 p.m. to prepare the evening’s soup. Two hundred bowls of soup were served each evening.
