PARTNERSHIPS GROWING
Heethuis adds, “Grand Valley’s co-op
requirement makes it a strong program – it helps students validate the field they’d like to work in and helps them be successful once they enter the workplace.” The tasks Leah was able to take part in during
her co-op included fixing machinery, inspecting parts for quality, and customer development work. “I learned a lot of technical skills that I wouldn’t have learned in the classroom. It helped me feel more confident in what I was doing, and I was able to work for an entire year in that environment. That experience was invaluable, and I can’t thank Autocam enough,” she adds.
rand Valley has a long history of partnerships with West Michigan business leaders, dating
back to the founding of the university. It is through these partnerships that an exceptional Grand Valley education remains accessible and affordable for all students. As one of the fastest growing universities in Michigan, Grand Valley offers corporations the opportunity to invest in the future of our students, West Michigan, and our state. Increasingly more businesses are stepping up and making a commitment to Lakers. For the past 30 years Grand Valley’s Padnos College of Engineering and Computing has developed talent through these collaborative industry partnerships. The following stories highlight some of the newest corporate scholarship opportunities available. To learn more about how your company can make an impact in the life of a student, visit
