SPECTRUM INDUSTRIES, INC.
One of Spectrum Industries’
most highly held corporate values is the organization’s commitment to improving the quality of life for employees and their families. The inspiration for the creation of the Spectrum Industries, Inc. Endowed Scholarship was personal for President Kevin Bassett. His brother, who passed away in 2013, had always been passionate about education and wanted to be able to give back to their employees and the community.
Bassett was able to fulfill
his brother’s final wish – to set aside his quarterly bonus for the creation of a fund to help families in need. The goal was to create an endowment to ensure longevity. In 2015, an annual commitment was made to give at least one scholarship per year to disadvantaged students. “Every little bit helps,” says
Bassett. “We have to start somewhere, and we’re committed to giving back to our community. We believe that it’s important
to attract and support talent to enrich the place we live.” Spectrum Industries awarded
its first scholarship to two Grand Valley students in 2015, each with a two-year commitment. Bassett says Spectrum Industries chose to create a scholarship at Grand Valley because of the university’s innovation and commitment to community impact. “Anytime we are able to help members of our community, we feel very proud,” adds Bassett.
“Every little bit helps. We have to start somewhere, and we’re committed to giving
back to our community.” - KEVIN BASSETT
