SSE collected €38.6m (£28.2m) in taxes on behalf of the Irish Government in the year to 31 March 2016, compared to €34.4m (£27.0m) the previous year.


In Ireland, from 1 January 2016, a domestic reverse charge applies to wholesale energy supplies in Ireland, following the same process as the VAT domestic reverse charge in the UK. This has resulted in an increase in VAT collected by SSE on behalf of the Irish Government.
