Venue Insights

Located in the heart of idyllic West Bay, Rise Café Bar is one of the latest commercial

installations from Void Acoustics. As a venue that prides itself on offering ‘good mood food’, it was imperative to supply a sound system that can be relied on for creating exactly the right atmosphere for guests, catering for everything from daytime background ambience, to live music and DJ evening entertainment.

For owners Nicki and Richard Cooper, founders of The Stable restaurant chain, Void is the sound system brand of choice. The Coopers were already delighted with the Void installation in their popular Lyme Regis bar and restaurant, SWiM, so when it came to kitting out Rise, it was an easy choice to make.

What made this second project with Void more challenging was Rise’s unusual layout, where the floor space is split into different zones. Jake Manley, Void’s UK Sales Manager, gave this careful consideration during his initial on-site consultation to ensure the sound coverage consistently delivers, regardless of which area guests are seated or standing in. He recommended the best audio solution as installing two Venu 12, two Cyclone 55, eight Venu 8, one Venu X, one Venu bass, two Cirrus 4 ceiling speakers,

all powered by one Bias D1 and two Bias Q2 amplifiers with built-in DSP.

Ashley Bisgrove, owner of Supermix Sound and Lighting, was responsible for installing the system. “The Void sound system covers all the angles, without ever being obtrusive. We set up a live music area with monitoring and mixing possibilities, a relaxed sofa zone at the front of the venue, inset booths for diners, and an outdoor terrace. Each zone has different sound levels at different times of the day, operated by Bluetooth. Balancing the different zones in terms of speaker power and sound levels was the biggest challenge we faced.”

Together with choosing Void products, Ashley attributed the success and smooth execution of

this project to “the excellent system specification, overseen by Void, and the technical support given by our Void suppliers, Batmink Distribution.”

For each installation, the Void team and their valued partners carefully invest time into exploring their customers unique needs, combined with considering the logistics within a given space. Void can be relied on to advise if there are alternative ways to engineer a room more economically and effectively for optimal sound. This detailed planning prior to installing a system is the key to Void’s long-standing, trusted customer relationships.
