QA with Charlie Holden
Charlie Holden is co-founder and director of Day and Night Group, A London based event and concert promoter, that produces parties, live events and club nights in some of the UK’s most renowned and unique spaces.
How did life start running events with The Day and Night Group? We've been running events for 12 years in various cities, DNG started 3 years ago and we now operate over half a dozen brands in London putting on almost 100 events per year.
Running an Oktoberfest celebration seems like a unique challenge, what are the main ones? Sometimes it can be an issue installing the right German beers in certain venues due to their relationships with breweries and alcohol companies. Another challenge we are yet to face is dealing with very inebriated individuals who've had a little too much fun!
In terms of expansion, are you looking to expand The Official Camden Oktoberfest further? We have doubled in size this year taking on 4 dates in Camden! The Ballroom was such an incredible venue for our events last year, so we're super excited to take on more dates. We are also launching Oktoberfest South London which will have 2 dates in Brixton at The
Electric...watch this space.
What are the main hurdles you have to overcome now to keep your Oktoberfest current? We have an array of DJs, comedians and performers at the event who are incredibly entertaining and nail the brief every time! The brass bands we book keep everybody singing and dancing with their contemporary covers, it's pretty rare to see an empty space on the dance floor for the final few hours.
What can ticket holders expect from The Official Camden Oktoberfest? Lots of booze, fun music, plenty of dancing and a hall full of happy folks not taking life too seriously!
If you could have one night out with any celebrity who would it be? Obviously Danny Dyer...
