Weekend ‘Staycation’

Many of our boarders enjoyed some festive fun when they took part in Sibford’s very first Exeat ‘Staycation’. Traditionally, boarders have

five exeats during the school year when they must leave school for the weekend to stay with guardians or parents. However, from September,

we have reduced this to two compulsory exeats (in September and early May) and have introduced three Exeat ‘Staycations’, where students are invited to remain on campus and take part in activities. In November, the ‘Staycation’

involved a visit to historic Upton House, where students enjoyed an Edwardian Christmas. Next up was Oxford city centre for a spot of Christmas shopping and eating out followed by a visit to Bicester Village

Maths Inspiraton

Year 11 visited the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham to attend Maths Inspiration ... an interactive maths lecture show. Head of Maths, Derek Bottomley said: “The show aims to help students learn about and appreciate the myriad of different ways that mathematics can be used and applied in different areas of life and work.”


As we come to the end of our 175th anniversary year, A Christmas Carol is just entering its 175th anniversary year. The Christmas classic, probably the most popular piece of fiction that Charles Dickens ever wrote, was first published in 1843

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone to learn that the final weeks of term have seen Sibford pupils getting ready for Christmas! We started in style on 1 December with the annual Christmas Fayre organised by our parents’ association, PSFA, which raised more than £2,000. On Saturday 9 December, it

was the Senior School Christmas Ball. Organised by our Sixth Form Management Team, the glittering
