SCOUTS HELPING YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS Camp Discovery Day is an event where youth with special needs are invited to Camp Lazarus to experience Scouting for a day. Each youth that comes to participate is partnered with a registered Scout to hang out with for the day to learn the ropes of what it is like to be in Scouting. Having special needs does not

mean youth cannot join and experience all the benefits of Scouting and that is what we want Camp Discovery Day to be all about.

Help us spread the word. Do you know a family with children with a special

need? Do you volunteer with an organization

that serves children with special needs? Invite them to come out on Saturday, May 13 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.

This event is open to boys and girls of all ages and all ability levels. Participants are required to have a parent or caregiver at camp. Siblings are welcome and encouraged to participate. For more information, please visit www. skcscouts.org/CampDiscovery.

SCOUTING AT THE STATE FAIR The Ohio State Fair has been a favorite family tradition since 1850 and this summer is no different. The fair runs from July 24 to August 4 and the

Scout booth is located at the fair’s Youth Discovery Center, Lausche Building. Each day will feature a theme along with entertainment to coordinate with the theme, so sign up for your favorite!

What are we looking for? We are looking for Scouting units and families to volunteer at the booth, as well as Scouts to participate in the daily parade. Scouts 14 years or older are also invited to volunteer as individuals to assist with activities and events at the booth. Youth and adults who volunteer for at least five hours get free entry into the Fair for the day, a participation patch, and a meal ticket! For more information please, visit skcscouts.org/statefair.
