Holder is the first Aussie to win a home event, taking to the top of the podium with a deafening roar from the Melbourne fans. It sealed him fourth place in the
World Championship and put him two points short of the bronze medal.
And Holder is determined to take that momentum into 2017, starting at the Slovenian SGP in Krsko on April 29.
He said: “My Melbourne win came at a pretty good time at the end of last year. I needed something to kick me up the backside and get me motivated again. That was awesome. “To win any GP is great, but to win your home Grand Prix in front

Holder reached seven finals and nine semis last year, with only dips in Prague and Cardiff, where he managed five and six points respectively, denying him a title challenge.
“The whole season went great last year,” he said. “It started off awesome. I made the first few finals and had a good chance of winning one or two of them, but I just didn’t get there. I had a dodgy time around Prague and Cardiff and only got 11 points out of those two rounds, which killed me in the long run.
“Overall, it was a good season. I had a lot of things going on at the end and that sucked. Going to Melbourne, I probably just rode really angry and it worked! Maybe I should start this year like that and
