Here at Lytchett Minster School, we want our students to be healthy, happy, and to achieve to the very best of their potential.


We have recently undertaken an online survey in school to gauge student wellbeing. The results were encouraging, particularly as they showed an improvement on last year’s fi gures. According to our survey (with over 350 respondents so far), 86% of students are ‘generally happy at school’ (the fi gure rises to 94% for Year 7 students) and the same percentage (86%) ‘feel positive about their future’. We take the wellbeing of our students very seriously. If students feel unsafe, stressed or exhausted, they will not be effective learners. Positive, confi dent, healthy students are more likely to achieve well at school and indeed be more successful in later life.


At school we have much to celebrate. Here is just a snippet of last month’s successes: one of our students, Freya Day, is through to the fi nal of the prestigious ‘Yes Chef’ competition being held at the Sandbanks Hotel; our Intermediate and Senior Debating Team were recently awarded 3rd place in the ‘Rotary Youth Speaks’ competition (pictured); our sports teams have also been busy, with various


successes at county level in netball, football and badminton; and our A-level Art and Textiles students recently exhibited their work at Poole Lighthouse.
