PROJECTS & CONTRACTS 31

KAMA Karton orders mechanical pulping system from Andritz

in which a complete folding box board production line will be supplied by Andritz, the Austrian company’s Pulping and Fiber Division is also delivering a new BCTMP line and stock preparation line.

F

The BCTMP line will be the 30th mechanical pulping system installed worldwide by Andritz and will be based on its P-RC APMP technology for hardwoods. Start- up of the complete production line

ollowing the recently announced order from KAMA Karton LLC at Krasnokamsk in Russia,

at the KAMA mill is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019. Birch is used as raw material on the BTCMP line, which has a design capacity of 395 admt/d. The high-efficiency mechanical pulping system begins with a chip washing system, a pre-steaming unit, and an impregnation system equipped with an MSD Impressafiner. This is followed by the first refining

stage, comprising a high-consistency S2070 refiner with a 15-MW drive, while the second stage will use a newly-developed low-consistency TwinFlo ‘Strong’ refiner.

In addition, the reject refining

system will contain a low- consistency TwinFlo refiner to ensure low energy consumption in combination with excellent pulp properties in both mainline and reject low-consistency refining. Andritz’s P-RC APMP technology with integrated bleaching stage immediately after the high- consistency refiner is said to ensure the highest brightness with minimum chemical charges. The low-consistency screening system is said to feature extremely low shive content in the final pulp, which will be dewatered on two

twin-wire presses and a disc filter to guarantee excellent pulp washing and thickening. FibreSolve FSV pulping, as

well as the latest developments in low-consistency refining, will be included in the Andritz stock preparation system. The approach flow system is designed for three layers, each fitted with a compact ShortFlow Blending System, low-consistency cleaning, and modern headbox screening. The broke system will also be part of the project together with the fibre recovery systems.

Tivoli mill to upgrade its board machine and stock preparation line

Consorzio Cartiere is having the board machine and related stock preparation line at its mill at Tivoli in Italy upgraded by Andritz. After start-up, which is

scheduled for the beginning of 2018, the capacity of the board machine will be increased from 78,000 to more than 100,000 tons per year.

The machine has a design speed of 1,000 m/min and produces fluting, testliner, corrugated medium and imitation-kraft papers with a basis weight range of 90-170 gsm. Raw material is 100 per cent waste paper. The scope of the project

comprises: • Upgrade of the stock preparation line and approach flow system

• Upgrade of the board machine including a PrimeFlow SW headbox with dilution control for the bottom layer, rebuild of the top and fourdrinier wires and press sections with a PrimePress X shoe press

• Rebuild of the pre-dryer and after-dryer sections to adjust drying capacity to the new production targets

Brown stock washing upgrade for Altri’s Celbi mill in Portugal

An upgrade of the brown stock washing process in the fibreline at Altri Group’s Celbi mill in Portugal is to be supplied by Andritz. The new DD-Washer and

other fibreline equipment will substantially improve the washing efficiency and increase the capacity of the hardwood fibreline, says Andritz. Start-up is scheduled

for autumn 2017. This is a repeat order for Andritz at the Celbi mill. The most recent deliveries of Andritz equipment and services were the pulp drying line and

cooking process systems in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Altri is based in Porto,

Portugal, and is one of the leading producers of bleached eucalyptus pulp in Europe.

March/April 2017

• New ropeless tail threading system

• New broke pulpers • Engineering, supervision, commissioning, start-up, training, spare part packages. With the upgrade, Consorzio Cartiere is aiming to improve paper quality, enhance runnability and increase production.
