improvement, the management team decided that the linerboard


quality of its PM1 and PM2 producti on lines needed a boost. Wang Zhentao, general manager of Yinzhou Paper explains: “We had frequent customer complaints regarding the evenness and CD profi les of our test liner, so we decided to replace the headboxes. “The existi ng headboxes were made locally with a design speed of 500 m/min. The mill increased the machine speed to 750 m/min


through day-to-day opti misati on, but the headboxes couldn’t keep up with the higher speed, leading to quality problems.”


Bett er quality test liner The soluti on for improved end product quality was to order two Opti Flo diluti on headboxes and two sets of advanced quality control systems from Valmet. They were installed for the bott om ply of the three-ply
