Youthologie to Offer Sound Therapy Nikola Tesla famously said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Einstein further elaborated on vibration, stating, “What we have called matter is energy, whose vibra- tion has been lowered as to be per- ceptible to the senses.” In other words, everything is made of energy and vibration, and everything, including the human body, has frequency. Sound therapy is an old idea that is currently being revived as part of integrative medicine. Sound therapy is the process of using music, sound and vibration to assist healing and to support wellness. The large water content of the body
makes it an excellent conductor of sound and vibration. All physical matter has resonance with certain frequencies,
which means it resonates with the most compatible frequency. All physical matter also has harmonics with vibra- tion and the possibility of entrainment with a strong source of vibration. Many studies have demonstrated
the health benefits of music, sound and vibration. Music can lower blood pressure and heart and respiratory rates; reduce cardiac complications; increase the immune response; and boost the body’s production of natural opiates. When integrated as part of a total approach to wellness, music can improve health and quality of life. There are both theories and demon-
strable reasons for why sound therapy works: perhaps tissue resonance affects the cells; perhaps it acts as a distrac- tion; perhaps it de-stresses by causing
relaxation; perhaps it works by break- ing the cycle of pain and anxiety; or its effects may be related to the release of oxytocin and nitric oxide. Of course, there could also be the placebo effect. Sound therapy will be coming
soon to Youthologie in the form of a sound bed and monolinas, which are smaller, more portable versions of the sound bed for meditation and wellness. Youthologie will be offering sound therapy, sound baths, sound guided meditations and sound journeys. For information, contact Lisa
